Polls & Vote!

Hi guides,

Some of us are commenting that we should publicize this blog to all BPGHS Girl Guides as this blog is very inactive. There are issues on whether this blog should be made "public" or not.

Issues to be discussed:
1) Some guides do not have blogger account and are unable to access this blog.
2) Logging in is very troublesome as we need to perform an additional step to enter password etc, which probably leads to the reasons why many do not want to view the blog.

Reasons for making this blog "private":
1) All the guides should be entitled to post an entry on this blog. So no matter what, you still need to invite them to allow author mode.
2) We need to keep all the spamming and vulgarities out of this blog by other uncivilised people.
3) We need to ensure the privacy of all the guides as the pictures posted might be ripped and misused.

Please provide some suggestions/comments to this issue...(Key under "OTHERS")
For example,

• create a common account for those guides without blogger account to access, but they are not allowed to post any entry. (ie, they are just invited readers)

Do you think that this blog should be made "public"?

Yes! So that everyone can have access to this blog for updates!

No! Privacy for the guides is important!

Reminders before camp!

Hello,

If you don't already know, camp is 12-14 March and here are some reminders with regards to your packing list.

1. You need to bring track pants along with your T-shirts, socks and sports shoes etc. Track pants are compulsory for those who want to participate in the High Elements activities to prevent the harness from cutting into your flesh. ie. No track pants = no high elements activities. You are strongly encouraged to participate in these activities because you already paid for them.

2. You will also need to ensure that you bring COMFORTABLE SUITABLE sports shoes because there is going to be a HIKE so it is quite unwise to bring shoes that will fall apart within ten steps.

3. Bring a suitably powerful torchlight. A torchlight that gives light within 5cm is not exactly useful. That said, ensure that the torchlight is actually powered by batteries that will not die quickly.

4. You need to let the campstaff / PLs know if you have any specialised medicine. If it is a small item like an inhaler, then be sure to keep it with you AT ALL TIMES. As for bulkier items like bottled medicine etc, store such medicine in a ziploc bag and label it with your name. Pass it to the campstaff and we will keep it in a centralised area for you to prevent wasting time looking for medicine in unknown dorms and countless bags when an emergency crops up.

5. The campsite is highly forested, so you should bring insect repellent, especially for those who are more prone to insect bites.

6. The area would get extremely cold at night so remember to bring a sleeping bag and a jacket.

7. Take note: if your gadgets are too big to fit into the bus, you will have to dismantle it and rebuild it when you reach the campsite.

8. You need to be assembled at 9am 12 March which is this coming Wednesday, don't be late.

9. Bring stationery. You will need to write some stuff.

10. Bring an alarm clock or any device that will wake you up effectively because we don't take kindly to people who are late in falling in. And remember you are supposed to surrender your handphones to the campstaff so use something else.

11. Not sure if this was added to the packing list, but BRING CLOTHES HANGERS. or it will be quite inconvenient when you want to hang your clothes, or your stuff will end up taking up a lot of space on the clothes lines. tyvm

12.If you have lost your packing list, get it from someone else. Make sure you pack EXACTLY to the list because those items are on the list for a reason. If we find anything missing from your bag during inspection, we will make you go home and take it.



PLs/APLs, either tell the guides in your patrol to read this blog or make sure you notify them about what's being said here.

Okay, after all these preparations, do bear in mind that this camp is carefully planned by your seniors so that it will be fun and enjoyable for you, so I hope you'll look forward to it and take every opportunity to make new friends / try something new / etc. (:

Woah..Just because of one small catapult, we'll have to thank so many people! Hah but true enough its a huge improvement from er, the past years. xD

Will try our best to learn AND teach you guys more structures and stuff! So that we'll start improving our CCA's reputation.

Of course, we shouldn't forget the people who drew and put up the LOADS AND LOADS of 'JOIN GUIDES' posters! Hahaha, the school is really infested with those stuff. xD I could hear people talking about it while walking pass the science block. (Because apparently, there's SIXTEEN Guides posters along that stretch at last count. Hahahaha)

Had fun wearing your NEW collar badges? Its nice right! Wear it everyday on your schoo uniforms only, on your left collar. Unless you have another badge that's on the left already then move it to the right..

And just to remind you people, for every single drills session. Which is set on Tuesdays,

Venue: Lower Sec Carpark or otherwise stated.
Time: 3pm
Attire: POLISHED boots with PT Kit.
/EDITEDITEDIT: I mean NEXUS campus carpark. xD

And of course failure to turn up would mean...Hahah, you know what it means.

6) Hahas. And Hui Lin, Jia Min and Xiang Qin for accompanying me to tell the Sec3s during recess in which it turned out that they have a MUCH MORE SHORTER recess.

Thanks to all of you. Well, in any case, without you guys, we wouldn’t have been able to successfully build the structure on our own within such a limited time. All thoughts are greatly appreciated.
