In collaboration with Jurong Secondary Guides, we had an outdoor cooking session for the Juying Primary Brownies!

The main objectives of this session was to teach the brownies turfing, fire-starting and cooking!

Of course, even though it wasn't stated in the proposal, we also had to let the brownies know the reasons why we do turfing instead of digging, why it's easier to start fire in the specified method and also basic hygiene practices while they are preparing the food for cooking. (: It's always good to explain the rationale behind everything that we are teaching so that they really understand the purpose behind our practices.

Our guides had a prior training session with me last Friday to brush up on their fire-starting skills. This shows that they are really sincere in teaching the brownies eh. :D

8 of them who were present: Jie Ying, Eileen, Eunice, Ai Xin, Brina, Yi Lei, Jasmine and Swee Ling!

After a briefing, we waited for the brownies to arrive while preparing the neccessary equipment.

The brownies arrived at 1330H. The 30 of them were to be split into 6 groups of 5 and a minimum of 3 Guides were assigned to each group.

We couldn't take out the soil in large pieces because the weather has been too hot recently and the soil was too dry. All the groups ended up having a mountain of soil instead.

The brownies were taught to prepare small pizzas and chocolate bananas and they wrapped them in aluminium foil.

After burning the firewood to embers, they place the food into the pit and covered them with the embers.

Our food preparation 'committee'!

All the BP Guides really worked hard to teach the brownies and to help out the Jurong Guides at the same time. Thank you all so much for your effort! (:

Overall, it was a really great collaboration with the Jurong Secondary Guides! We got along really well with them. Some of us even exchanged numbers with them with hopes of such more experiences in the future. (:

Despite us all feeling exhausted from inhaling fumes, maintaining the fire etc, we all left with a great sense of accomplishment from teaching the brownies. :D

Spotted! The 4 Sec2s (Gigi, Entong, Jane and Angela) after their malt candy sales. :D

Happy Holidays to everyone! (not for me though because I'll be having attachment! Booooo)
Sec 4s, please do work very hard for your revision of O Levels! (:

Regards,
MingXian :D

P.S: I wanted to put 'XOXO' instead of regards.. LOL.

=)

Hm. I dont know what's wrong with the unfinished post the other time round. So i decided to retyped it again. Are you signing at this sentence cos i'll simply go nagging abt it again? well, nope. I will try to make it as short as possible this time round. Hopefully, it's less painful.

Firstly, sec 4s jia you! add lots of oil! You guys definitely need it. Honestly speaking, i didn't expect to see so many of you in the a square program. hey! dont get it wrong ok? i am not implying that it's a program for losers but i just expected you guys to do well academically. And i supposed i can safely assumed that you guys did study but not hard enough? Come on! i hoped most of you have already come to your senses or are at least aware that you got only one chance. Your performance in O level or N level will determine your future path. It's time to concentrate and focus. =) [i hope that after a year later, you guys can smile proudly at this post and tell the seniors that you've done well].

P.S. If you are involved in a BGR, maybe you should rethink over the relationship. At least ensure it is not at the expense of your grade.

Sec3s, taking over soon. I'm not gonna repeat the usual stuff i think everyone else would be telling you at this point of time. Display your talents and leadership abilities, i have confident in you guys that all of you will shine. I will congrats in advance the new excos. May Guides soar in your hands. Most importantly, dont anger Ms Phua ok? I'm sure you know what i mean. =)

Sec2s, STUDY! impt year for you guys too. Streaming. Dont pon CCA hor. i'm sure the seniors wouldn't be too happy to see you guys in shopping malls on CCA day. Ya. At least learn to differentiate what you ought to and what you should never do.

Although i dont know any of the Sec1s, still, i wanna say a warm welcome to our big guiding family. Hopefully, you guys have blended in already and is looking forward to CCA.

Last but not least, I miss every single one of you!~ I miss having guides' sessions. I miss having that kind of familiar feelings. =/ Oh ya. Last note, update the blog. i'm sure over-friendly seniors like me will want to know more abt what you guys did. Due to obligations in our own school, most of us are not able to go back to see you guys but still let the legacy live on, k? =)

With love,
Kai Jun
